Fingers Crossed picks one person from a group at random. Who goes first, who pays, who does the dishes: put your fingers down and let the app decide.

How it works

  1. Everyone puts one finger on the screen and keeps it there.
  2. Once nobody moves for a moment, a countdown runs: 3, 2, 1.
  3. One finger is picked at random. The screen fills with its color, with a hole under the winning finger.

Lift all fingers to start again. Adding or lifting a finger during the countdown restarts the wait.

Questions

Why only 5 fingers?

iPhones can track at most 5 touches at once. If a sixth finger touches the screen, iOS cancels all touches, so the round starts over and the app shows “Max 5 fingers”.

Is it really random?

Yes. Every finger on the screen has exactly the same chance.

Can I switch to a light background or turn off vibration?

Yes. Tap the ⓘ button in the top-right corner of the start screen. There you can choose dark or light and turn haptics on or off.

Is Fingers Crossed accessible?

Yes, it's made to be usable by everyone. With VoiceOver or another screen reader, you place your fingers as usual: the countdown is read out, and the result names the winning color and where on the screen that finger is. With Reduce Motion turned on, the circles don't pulse. The colors in the light appearance are tuned for contrast on white, and color is never the only cue: each circle sits right under its finger, and the winner is marked by a hole.

Is there a version for other devices?

Yes. On other devices, for example Android phones and tablets, use the web app. It works the same in any modern browser on a touch screen. Add it to your home screen to use it like an app, also offline.

Does Fingers Crossed collect any data?

No. See the privacy policy.
